Offers description and analysis of methods, forums, and participants in barter process; importance of bartering to local economies and culture; and traditions that accompany bartering system in region. Finds that basic principle underlying trading mechanisms is that no one should profit from another, and that true value of trade is in shared benefits of planting, collecting, making and transporting goods.
