When Mark Dexter, visiting Australia, invited Janet to work in his publishing house in the United States, she thought he was offering her heaven. They had an adventure and thrilling trip by plane to New York, lingering in Fiji and Havanna; but when they reached New York, Janet found she could not get away from Julian Gaden, an odd character whom Mark had introduced her to in a Sydney night club.
