The room
An elderly woman is disturbed by visitors who seem to think her room is vacant. In Harold Pinter's first play, he reveals himself as already in full control of his unique ability to make dramatic poetry of the banalities of everyday speech and the precision with which it defines character. 'The Room' was first performed at The University of Bristol Drama Department in May 1957.
