The Fig Tree
In this hand-illustrated zine, author Leila Abdelrazaq explores issues such as diaspora, conflict, and womanhood. Abdelrazaq is a Palestinian woman banned from her ancestral village by Israel. She ancient traditions, passed down through generations, to connect to her motherland. At the core of the story is the the Palestinian fig, as it symbolizes this generations-long connection. Each page contains black, white, and pink images and text. - Alekhya
