The devil and Daniel Webster
A story in which a New Hampshire farmer sells his soul to the Devil in return for 10 years of prosperity. When the Devil comes to collect, the farmer appeals to Daniel Webster to defend him before the Devil's jury of American villains. Having promised his soul to the Devil in exchange for good fortune, Jabez Stone asks the talented lawyer Daniel Webster to get him out of the bargain.
