A book examining the relevance of the prehistoric human experience to understanding of cultral processes, human behavior, and human evolution. Stressing problems and trends, the author sought to emphasize interpretation. Consideration is given to the aims and contributions of the study of prehistory and to the methods of its principal technique, archaeology.
