Koina und Concilia
This study examines the provincial councils of the Roman Empire (1st-3rd c. AD), which were called "koina" in the Greek East and "concilia" in the Latin West. Based on new discoveries and new issues in the field of ancient history, this analysis offers a new appraisal of the provincial councils, including the history of their origin, their political function for Rome and for inhabitants of the provinces, and their social and economic significance.
