Similar to other books on horses, this book starts with where the industry and horses have been and where they are now. Also, similar to other books on the horse, this book contains information about the breeds and types of horses. Chapters on soundness, selecting and judging, and determining the age of horses could be considered quite traditional for a book on horses. However, in this book understanding these topics receives strong support from the biology or science that is involved. Chapters on cells, tissues and organs, and functional anatomy also support a student's understanding of reproduction, nutrition and digestion, feeding, health, and parasite control.
