Large-scale and richly illustrated monograph takes the reader on a journey through Peter Brandes 'versatile artistic work, where the constant dialogue between cultural history, art and Brandes' family history unfolds. A family story which on the fathers' side is a gripping Jewish story across national borders and which involved the death of his grandfather in the Holocaust. The book contains interviews with Peter Brandes at museum director Erland Porsmose, Østfyns Museer / Johannes Larsen Museet, and museum director Christine Løventoft, Museet for Religiøs Kunst in Lemvig.
